Welcome to Mariposapix Photography

Located on a family homestead in northern hills of Lancaster County, PA we strive to provide an experience where families become friends. Our first love and expertise is capturing the purest miracles of a newborn. Let's start the conversation and begin dreaming of beautiful artwork throughout your home that you stop to smile, cry, and cherish.

A little bit about everything

"The best thing about a picture is that it never changes, even when the people in it do."

—Andy Warhol

Experience Does Matter

Ten years ago, I am not sure I would of understood how important time, education, investment, and experience mattered. I jumped into photography and I failed a lot. Not in a sense that I didn't get pictures for my clients but I learned that it is more than capturing images. It is working hard, sweating, staying up late nights, learning from others ahead of me, and actually photographing almost 1000 newborn session. I am not claiming that I have arrived. A photographer should always be learning. But I will say that there is a HUGE difference between where I began and where I am now. Which means I'm worth more. I've invested more. I have more to offer my clients today. If you've been in your job for 10 years, I hope you are being compensated with both money and value. This is why I caution my clients to thoroughly look at photographers when they are choosing someone to capture their newborn. How long have they been working with newborns? What equipment do they use? Have they mastered lighting and posing (this took a very long time)? Are they providing you a customized experience where you matter too? Do they have a large variety of props/backdrops? Do they use the same consistent assistant to keep your baby safe? To edit newborn images, it takes a lot of time. From creative set up, the actual session to creating a proofing gallery and finely hand editing each image, it takes us over 10 hours. Just like you would shop for the best pediatrician or safest car, I am asking you to be informed and don't jump for the 'cheapest' photographer. Determine what you are looking for and what value you want to place on lifetime images. Do you want a professional personalized and safe experience? Do you want someone is cutting edge because they are always learning? At the end of the day, we want to be known for caring for our clients, keeping everyone safe, and providing a beautiful gallery of images that you can cherish. Much Love--Jen
